You check these yourself

  • Left thumb pressed on white paper in black or blue ink.
  • Print is clear, not smudged. A smudged impression gets the application rejected.
  • No left thumb? Use another digit as the notice allows, and write which one on the page.

What IBPS asks for

DocumentFormatFile sizePixelsDPI
Left thumb impressionJPG/JPEG20–50 KB240 × 240 pxpreferred200 DPI (preferred)

240 × 240 px at 200 DPI is 3 cm × 3 cm. IBPS marks the pixel size and DPI as preferred, and the 20–50 KB range and JPG type as the firm rules. We write the 200 DPI into the file itself, which an ordinary photo editor often will not.

Making a print that survives scanning

If you can't use your left thumb

The notice sets an order: the right thumb first; if both thumbs are missing, a finger of the left hand starting from the forefinger; then a finger of the right hand; then the left toe. In those cases you must also write, on the uploaded document, which finger or toe it is and whether it is the left or right.
